Most of what we sell references something on screen. This does not. It is a brown leather bomber, it has been made in roughly this shape since the 1930s, and there is nothing in the design that will date. That makes it the safest thing in the catalogue to buy. You are not going to get bored of the reference, nobody is going to recognise it as a costume piece, and in twenty years it will still just be a brown leather jacket.

The knit is the part people get wrong

The ribbed collar, cuffs and waistband are not trim. They are the reason a bomber holds its shape while the leather softens around them. They seal the openings so wind does not run up the sleeve, and they let the body blouse slightly instead of hanging flat. Cheap bombers use a thin knit that loses its recovery within a year, and then the cuffs gape and the waistband stops gripping and the whole jacket looks tired regardless of how good the hide is. We specify a heavier gauge for exactly that reason. If you are comparing bombers anywhere, put your fingers inside the cuff and stretch it. The one that snaps back is the one to buy.

How brown leather ages

Brown shows its age more visibly than black, and in this case that is a feature. Areas that rub, the elbows, the forearms, the seat of the shoulders, lighten toward honey. Creases deepen toward espresso. After two or three winters the jacket has a range of tone through it that a new one cannot imitate. Black leather does not do this in any interesting way. It just gets scuffed. If the idea of a jacket that looks better in five years than it does on the day it arrives appeals to you, brown is the colour to buy.

Fit and what to wear it with

Regular through the chest with room for a mid weight sweater. Take your usual size. The bomber is the most forgiving shape in leather, which makes this the lowest risk item here to order without measuring first. It goes with denim, chinos, cords and almost anything else. Brown sits better against earth tones, cream, olive and navy than it does against black. Over a grey sweatshirt it reads casual. Over a knit polo it reads a good deal smarter than the price suggests.

Care, which is genuinely short

Condition twice a year. Keep it off wire hangers. Do not store it in plastic. That is the whole list, and anyone selling you a more complicated routine is selling you conditioner.

Garment measurements by size. Measured flat, in inches. These cells stay empty until you send production figures. Publishing a measurement that is wrong causes returns, so I have not guessed.
