Mens Red and Black Leather Bomber Jacket

This is a leather bomber in red, with ribbed knit at the collar, cuffs and hem, a front zip and contrast panelling across the body and sleeves. It is fully lined and runs from XXS to 3XL in two material options.

Panelled leather is harder to make well

A single colour leather jacket is cut from one hide type in one dye lot. A two tone jacket is not, and the seams where the colours meet are where cheap construction shows. What to look for is whether the panels lie flat against each other at the join. If one colour is on a slightly heavier hide than the other, the seam puckers and it will get worse as the two panels stretch at different rates. Look closely at the shoulder and the sleeve join in the photographs before ordering any two tone leather piece, from us or anyone else.

Red leather ages differently

On a jacket you are effectively ageing two garments at once. The black panels will scuff and hold their tone. The red will lighten where it rubs and can shift slightly warmer over several years. That divergence is normal and it is part of why an old two tone jacket looks better than a new one. It is also why you should condition the whole jacket at once rather than treating the red panels more often because they look like they need it. Uneven conditioning is what causes patchy tone.

Fit

Regular bomber cut with room for a sweatshirt. Take your usual size. Bomber shapes are forgiving, but two tone panelling draws the eye horizontally across the chest, which can read wider than a single colour jacket in the same size. If you are between sizes and want a leaner line, take the smaller one.

Wearing it

Everything else plain and dark. This jacket has a colour block and a knit stripe already, so a patterned shirt or bright footwear turns it into noise. Black trousers or indigo denim. The red is doing the work.

Care

Condition twice a year across the whole garment. Keep the knit trims out of a dryer if the jacket is ever cleaned, since heat destroys the elastic and slack cuffs age a bomber faster than worn leather does.
